Dr. Kenneth Washer

Dr. Kenneth Washer Joined the faculty at A&M-Commerce in 1996 as an interim instructor of finance. Two years later he completed his dissertation and received his Doctorate in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University. Dr. Washer spent two years (1999–2001) at Morehead State University in Kentucky before rejoining A&M-Commerce in 2003. He is presently an Associate Professor of Finance and serves as the Economics and Finance Department Chair. Dr. Washer has developed an online Financial Planning Certificate Program through the University’s Center for Professional Development that serves about 100 working professionals.

Dr. Washer has published articles in journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Applied Financial Economics, Financial Counseling and Planning, and Journal of Financial Planning (Between the Issues section). He has presented papers at numerous conferences throughout the U.S., and he and Dr. Nippani won the best paper award at the 2004 ASBBS annual meeting. His current research focuses on financial planning and investments

Dr. Washer is active in his community. He is the Stewardship Chair, a Finance Committee member, and men’s softball coach at First United Methodist Church - Commerce. He sits on the board of the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum and is a Rotary club member. He is also a member of the Board of Adjustments for the city of Commerce.

Dr. Washer has been married to Jennifer since 1991. Jennifer works as the children’s director at their church. They have two daughters. Emily is in second grade and she loves art. Maggie just started kindergarten and she loves to be around people and play.
