Voice Mail

Voice Mail is available at TAMU-Commerce

A voice mail system was installed in February, 1999. There is no additional charge for this service. For a basic explanation of how the system works please read the following.

For employees with an assigned telephone number:

The system will provide voice mail when you are unable to answer your telephone or if it is busy. It will answer your phone with a personal greeting that you can re-record as often as necessary. Your caller will then have the option of leaving you a private message, or pressing zero to transfer to an extension of your choice. Your voice mailbox number will be the same as your four digit extension. When a message is waiting in your mailbox, you will be notified by a special dial tone on your phone set. You can retrieve your messages from any touch tone phone, whether on or off campus.

Sample Personal Greeting:

You have reached the voice mail of John Doe. Please leave a message at the tone, and I will return your call as soon as possible. If you need immediate assistance press zero, and my co-worker will assist you.

For Departments:

A recorded menu listing can be provided to callers. These menus can provide recorded information (such as location, hours, services provided, etc), route callers to appropriate extension numbers, or take messages.

Sample Departmental Greeting with Menu:

You have reached the Computing, Telecommunications and Information Services Department. If you know the extension of the person you wish to speak to, you may dial it at any time.

If you are calling to report a computer problem please press 1.

If you are calling to report a telephone problem please press 2.

Please make a selection, or remain on the line for operator assistance.
