MyLeo Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)MS Word version of this document for easier printing. How do I logon to MyLeo?You can logon to the MyLeo portal from the TAMU-Commerce home page (http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/) and selecting MyLeo or by going to the MyLeo Portal page at https://leo.tamu-commerce.edu/login.aspx.
Click on the MyLeo link. You will be taken to the MyLeo logon page.
The CWID is your student number. If you do not know your CWID, you can use your Social Security Number and, once logged in, your CWID/Student ID number will be displayed. Your MyLeo password must be exactly 6 characters long. Your initial password will generally be set to your birthdate in MMDDYY format. Single-digit months and years require an initial zero. For example, if you were born March 6th of this year, your PIN/password could be 030607. Enter your username and password and click logon.
If this is your first time logging into the MyLeo portal, you should be presented with some information and agreements. Read the information and click to check the boxes next to signify your agreement. There are TWO boxes you must check before you will be able to Submit. Click the link to submit the information. You will be taken to the MyLeo Welcome page. From this page you will be able to access MyLeo, your Leo-Mail, and eCollege (for online classes) .
If you click the MyLeo link, you will be taken to the MyLeo main menu, which allows access to other MyLeo services and the site menu items.
What is my CWID? How can I find it?Your CWID (Campus Wide ID) is your student number. It is the number printed on your TAMU-Commerce ID card--the same one you received on your admission letter/email. If you do not know your CWID but do know your social security number, just logon to MyLeo using your social security number and you will receive a message telling you your CWID. What is the MyLeo password?Your MyLeo password must be exactly 6 digits long and may only be numeric. If you cannot remember your password, you can call Technology Services at 903-468-6000 during working hours or email HelpDesk@tamu-commerce.edu and have it reset to the standard initial configuration. Once you have successfully logged into the MyLeo portal, you can change your password via the Options link towards the top right side of the Welcome screen. Can I use my FAFSA password to logon to the MyLeo portal? No. The FAFSA and the MyLeo PINs are for different organizations and different systems. In addition, the MyLeo password must be six characters long, whereas the FAFSA PIN is only 4. I remember my old WebTrax password but it won't work for MyLeo. Why not?Chances are one of the following is true:
To reset your PIN, you may contact Technology Services at 903-468-6000 or HelpDesk@tamu-commerce.edu. I can't remember my MyLeo password/PIN. How can I access MyLeo or my Leo-Mail?Try using a 6 digit version of your birthdate as above. If this doesn't work, Technology Services can reset your password/PIN to the normal initial configuration (your 6-digit date of birth in MMDDYY format). Please see above. How do I reset my MyLeo password? You may contact Technology Services by phone during normal work hours (903-468-6000) or via email at HelpDesk@tamu-commerce.edu. Technology Services can reset your password/PIN to the standard initial configuration (a 6-digit version of your birthdate in MMDDYY format). I’m getting an error message saying my account is locked until a certain time. Why is this? This normally happens when your password is entered incorrectly too many times. For security reasons, our system is set to detect repeated logon attempts. Once the time period has expired, you should be able to logon. However, the fact that it happened may indicate that you have forgotten your logon ID and/or password. How do I check my Admission Status?Once your application has been received and processed, you will be entered into the system and an email or postal mail will be sent giving you your username and password. To check your Graduate or undergraduate application status, you can logon to the MyLeo portal (instructions below) and click the appropriate link. Where to I go to get my Leo-Mail?In order to access your Leo-Mail, you must first logon to the MyLeo portal as detailed above. Can I receive my Leo-Mail on my iPhone, Blackberry, or other smart phone.No. You can only access your Leo-Mail from within the MyLeo portal. This is by design. I can logon successfully to the MyLeo portal but I get an error message when I try to logon to my Leo-Mail. Why is this? The most common cause is a password mismatch between your MyLeo portal ID and your email ID. The MyLeo portal is similar to the door to a Mall, which allows you access to stores that may have their own door locks. When things are working properly (when none of the stores are closed), you should not be asked for another “key” (password) to access other modules. While you cannot change your Leo-Mail password directly, changing your MyLeo PIN changes your Leo-Mail Password. You can change your password via the Change Password dialogue in your MyLeo. Technology Services (903-468-6000 or HelpDesk@tamu-commerce.edu) can reset your MyLeo PIN to the standard initial configuration. I'm trying to access my Leo-Mail and I am getting a "page cannot be displayed" message. What is happening? This is most often caused by a firewall. Governmental institutions, school districts, and many businesses have firewalls that block non-standard Internet ports. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or your Technology department for help with allowing traffic on TCP port 7080. The required URL is http://leo.tamu-commerce.edu:7080. I can't forward or reply to messages in my Leo Webmail. Why not? This is caused by a pop-up blocker. The XP pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer, the pop-up blocker in Firefox, or another type of pop-up blocker (Google Toolbar, for example) is blocking the program from creating the required pop-up. You must allow http://leo.tamu-commerce.edu to create a pop-up. For more information and directions, go to http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/ctis/help/email/sp2.htm. I'm getting a grayed-out box and/or a red X when trying to type email messages in my Leo Mail. This is caused by browsers (Internet Explorer, Safari, etc) that cannot handle the rich text format. The solution is to switch to plain text. Sometimes the browser does not allow you to do this. In these cases, it is necessary to use another browser to change the settings. Technology Services can help you do this, though it may be necessary for Help Desk personnel to logon as you in order to accomplish this. I can logon to the MyLeo portal fine, but when I try to register or access the MyLeo or other links, I get a message telling me I do not have access or that my access has been disabled. What can I do?This is a technical issue that requires you to contact Technology Services via telephone or email as mentioned above. You will need to provide your CWID (student ID number), if known, or your full social security number. This most often happens because your session has timed out or you failed to logout. It is a security measure to protect the accounts of those who fail to logout on public computers. I still have questions. Where can I find the answers? For technical questions (such as how to logon, forgotten passwords, inability to access Leo-Mail, etc) contact Technology services by phone at 903-468-6000 or via email at HelpDesk@tamu-commerce.edu. For problems with taking tests for online classes, accessing online classes once logged into the MyLeo portal, problems accessing your online course grade book, drop box, or discussion areas, contact the eCollege help desk at HelpDesk@online.tamuc.org or 1-866-656-5511 or Instructional Technology at 903-886-5511.
