Instructions for Creating a Filter to Handle
Email Messages Marked as SPAM under Eudora

A message marked with TAMUC Spam Advisory in the subject has been identified as a potential spam email message. Eudora allows you to create a filter to automatically transfer these messages to a specific mailbox. To create a new filter, start Eudora and follow the procedure below:

1.Begin to create new filter.

On the Tools menu, select the Filters menu option.

 


2. Create new filter.

Click on the New button on the Filters screen.

3. Configure new filter.

Click on the Header drop-down menu and select Subject .

4. Configure spam filter.

Enter the phrase TAMUC Spam Advisory in the text field below the Subject Header.

5. Configure spam filter to transfer spam to a mailbox.

Click on the first drop-down menu under Action and select Transfer To .


6. Configure spam filter to move spam to new mailbox.

Click on the In button next to the drop-down menu and select New..

7. Name the mailbox

You may name the new mailbox anything you wish. You should use a very descriptive name such as Filtered as Spam. This mailbox will contain all email messages that get tagged by the filtering software.

After you enter the mailbox name in the text field, click the OK button.

Make sure the Make it a folder option is not checked


7. Finish

Your filter is now complete. When you leave the filter screen or close eudora it will ask you to save changes. Choose Yes.
