How to set up Outlook for Campus Post Office email:

 

I.  Open the  Control Panel.
   
Click Start, then Run.

Type control into the dialogue box.

 

 
II.  Open the Mail applet.
 
In the Control Panel, click Switch to Classic View.

Double click on the Mail applet.

 

 
III.  Set up the account.
1.  Begin the Email Account Wizard.
If you have not set up an email account in Outlook:

Normally Outlook will prompt you to set up an account.  If Outlook asks you if you wish to set up an email, account, select Yes.  Follow the steps below with the exception of Step A, which may not appear.

If Outlook is set up to access an existing email account:

You will need to add an additional account.  Follow the steps below

  1. Click View or Change Existing Accounts and click Next. (note:  you may have to select Email Accounts first.)

  1. Click Add.

 
2.  Select the type of email account.
 

Select the POP3 radio button to set up a POP account.

Click Next.

 

 
3.  Enter the account information.
 
  1. Your Name:  Enter the name you wish to be displayed on your outgoing emails.  This is normally your first and last name.
  2. Email Address:  This is your TAMU-Commerce email account, normally FirstName_LastName@tamu-commerce.edu
  3. User Name:  For a retiree account, this is normally the part of your email address BEFORE the @ sign (including the underscore).
  4. Password:  The password you use to access your email.
  5. Incoming mail server (POP3):  This will be cp.tamu-commerce.edu.
  6. Outgoing mail server (SMTP):  This will usually be smtp.tamu-commerce.edu.   However, if are connecting to the Internet using a service OTHER than TAMU-Commerce.edu, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to see what their outgoing mail server is named and whether they use SPA (Secure Password Authentication).

 

 

You may check the Remember password box if you wish to avoid entering your password each time (not recommended).

 
4.  Test your settings.

 

Click the Test Account Settings button to make sure your account is properly set up.

You will see this progress screen.  As tasks are completed successfully, a green check will appear next to the item.  If all tasks are completed successfully, a test email will appear in your inbox.
