Statement of PhilosophyThe Counseling Center operates from a holistic approach to student development, offering a wide range of programs and services designed to assist students in accomplishing their academic, career, and personal goals. Counseling Center programming focuses on the developmental needs of students in order to assist them in maximizing their potential for success. The Center staff seeks to make the campus environment more beneficial to students by providing individual and group counseling, educational outreach, assessment and evaluation, training and supervision, and crisis intervention. The Counseling Center plays an active role in interpreting and advocating the concerns of students to administrators, faculty, and staff. The Center staff is sensitive to the needs of both ethnic and cultural minorities and non-traditional students. The Counseling Center engages in cooperative working relationships with other campus departments and community agencies who provide similar functions. The Center staff utilizes referral resources within the university and community and serves as an integral part of a campus mental health team. Student Services Building, Room 204 |
