The Physics Department at Texas A&M University-Commerce offers an excellent opportunity to learn at a well-established state university in an atmosphere that feels more like a small town college. Our world-class professors are noted for their teaching skills as well as their mentoring. They take the time to know each student by name and working closely to establsh relationships and a personalized education so that students are prepared in both undergraduate and graduate studies leading to B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics.
Be a Part of an Active Physics Community
Students can participate in a local chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) and a local physics club. Plus, there are opportunities to join research teams operating in the areas of signal analysis, x-ray absorbtion spectroscopy, surface physics, astronomy, theoretical solid-state physics, theoretical nuclear physics and astrophysics, space physics, or application of microcomputers to instrumentation.
The Physics faculty emphasizes undergraduate research, which most students will start doing during their sophomore or junior year. Graduate students will study in one of only two graduate programs with the Texas A&M University system.
