Masters Program in
Secondary Education for
Mathematics
Teachers
|
This program began
in Fall 2000, with offerings in Mesquite at A&M-Commerce's
Metroplex facility at 2600
Motley Drive.
The program
consists of 12 courses (36 credit hours) which can be completed in two
years. The curriculum has two components: mathematics and
education.
The mathematics component involves
a choice of six courses chosen from a list of eight recently developed
offerings - all of which are designed specifically for middle and
secondary school mathematics teachers. Each course involves
hands-on activities with graphing calculators and computer software.
The education
component consists of six education courses, with a required core of
four courses and a choice of two other education offerings. Some
students may elect to take just the four core education courses and
seek credit for certain forms of high-quality professional development
(approved on a case-by-case basis).
While
all courses will be offered in Mesquite, substitutions may be allowed
for courses taken in Commerce.
