Faculty & Student Support

State funds provide basic salaries for faculty but only private support allows Texas A&M University-Commerce to recruit and recognize its most deserving faculty. A key goal of the university’s Securing the Promise Campaign is to have endowed faculty positions. Other goals include providing the resources and facilities that will allow faculty to lead the way in developing the highest quality learning environment in the classroom and laboratory.These endowments help fund salary stipends, special classroom projects, equipment, professional development, and research initiatives. Most donors designate their endowed chairs and professorships for specific colleges or departments.

Faculty Support
Endowed Chair Distinguishes a professor holding a chair position for their faculty work, rewards achievement in the academic world and enables the professor to pursue new areas of research or innovative teaching methods so that we may attract and retain the finest scholars. This appointment may recognize a current faculty member or it may be associated with the recruitment of a new faculty member. ($50,000 per year)	$1,000,000+
Endowed Professorship Recognizes outstanding faculty for their great discoveries and advances. This appointment may recognize a current member of the faculty or it may be associated with recruitment of a new faculty member. ($10,000 per year)	$250,000+

Student Support
Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is typically a four-year award for students in a specific field of study designated by the donor. Scholarship amounts vary and are awarded to one or several students at a time, depending on donor criteria and/or departmental needs. ($1,000 per year for four years.)	$25,000
Endowed Opportunity Award A four-year award for well-rounded, highly-motivated undergraduates with financial need. ($1,000 per year for four years.)	$25,000
Endowed Assistantship Graduate and undergraduate students help with teaching or research while assisting professors. ($1,500 per year for two years.)	$50,000
Endowed Graduate Research Award Graduate students work collaboratively with faculty on important research projects. ($2,000 per year for three years.)	$75,000
President's Endowed Scholarship A four-year academic scholarship for top undergraduates. It is considered the university's most prestigious scholarship. ($3,000 per year for four years.)	$80,000
