Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to register with an advisor?

Any Student who has not passed Basic Skills Math and English,
those who have not passed THEA, those on probation as well as
those on provisional status must register for classes through
the appopriate advising office. Those who do not have a degree audit
should register with an advisor or see a Departmental
Advisor.

Why do I have to take Math and English this
semester?

The Basic Skills policy states that a student must be in an English
and a math class each semester until the completion of English 101
and Math 141/175/179.

Where do I get a degree audit?

A degree audit can be obtained from the department of your major, or from the appropraite advising office.

When is a good time to get a degree audit made?

If you are sure of your major, see your departmental advisor for a
degree audit. If you are unsure of a major, talk with an advisor
from your college.

Do I have to take the math diagnostic when I have
already passed THEA?

Students are placed into math courses according to their
THEA Score. If a student wants placement into a higher
math course, then the math diagnostic may be used.
Diagnostics may be taken for developmental courses,
College Algebra, Pre-Calculus & Calculus.

What is the passing grade for developmental courses?

The passing grade on a developmental course is a "C".
